Iggy Pop - Sixteen

The only song on Lust for Life entirely written by Iggy Pop. 1977.

Sweet 16 in leather boots
Body and soul, I go crazy
Baby, baby I'm a hungry, sweet 16
Funky bar all full of faces
Pretty faces, beautiful faces
Body and soul, body and soul
I give to you
I am an easy mark with my broken heart
Sweet 16
Show you my explosion, sweet 16
Go out to the funky bar
I get hurt, crying inside
'Cause everybody's so fine
And they don't need me.
Tell me what can I do, sweet 16
I give you my body and soul sweet 16
I must be hungry 'cause I go crazy
Over your leather boots
Now baby I know...
That's not normal
But I love you, I love you
I love you, sweet 16

Billy Idol - Sweet Sixteen

Ed Leedskalnin's Coral Castle, a mysterious construction in Florida, served as inspiration for this 1986 song. The lyrics constantly refer to it.
"Sweet Sixteen" is how Edward referred to his 16 year-old fiancée Agnes Scuffs, who broke the engagement the night before their wedding and for whom the castle was built, single-handedly, by Edward .

A picture of Leedskalnin can be seen in the beginning of the video.

Another version of the video was recorded at the Coral Castle:

I'll do anything
For my sweet sixteen,
And I'll do anything
For little run away child

Gave my heart an engagement ring,
She took ev'rything,
Ev'rything I gave her,
Oh sweet sixteen

Built a moon
For a rocking chair,
I never guessed it would
Rock her far from here
Oh, oh, oh.

Someone's built a candy castle
For my sweet sixteen
Someone's built a candy brain
And filled it in.

Well I'll do anything
For my sweet sixteen
Oh I'll do anything
For little runaway child

Well, memories may burn you,
Memories grow older as people can
They just get colder
Like sweet sixteen

I see it's clear
Baby, that you are
All through here
Oh, oh, oh, oh.

Someone's built a candy castle
For my sweet sixteen
Someone's built a candy house
To house her in.
Someone's built a candy castle
For my sweet sixteen
Someone's built a candy brain
And filled it in.

And I do anything
For my sweet sixteen
Oh, I do anything
For run away girl.

Yeah, sad and lonely and blue.
Yeah, gettin' over you.
How, how do you think it feels
Yeah to get up in the morning, get over you.
Up in the morning, get over you.
Wipe away the tears, get over you, get over, get over...

My sweet sixteen,
Oh runaway child
Oh sweet sixteen
Little runaway girl.

Gave my heart an engagement ring,
She left everything,
Everything I gave her,
Oh sweet sixteen
Built a moon
For a rocking chair,
I never guessed it would
Rock her far from here
Oh, oh, oh, oh.

Someone's built a candy castle
For my sweet sixteen
Someone's built a candy house
And house her in.
Someone's built a candy castle
For my sweet sixteen
Someone's built a candy house
And house her in.

And I'll do anything
For my sweet sixteen
Oh, I'll do anything
For little runaway child

Do anything
For my sweet sixteen
I'll do anything
For little runaway girl
Little runaway girl
Oh sweet sixteen
Oh sweet sixteen
Oh

Johnny Burnette - Little Boy Sad

Released in 1961 and later covered by Herman's Hermits.

You've been lyin', been untrue
Now they call me Little Boy Blue
Someday, baby, you're gonna find
Nobody in the world's gonna give you lovin' as sweet as mine

You've been cheatin', doin' me bad
Now they call me Little Boy Sad
Someday, baby, you're gonna see
Nobody in the world's gonna give you lovin' as sweet as me

Little Boy Blue, that's my name
Little Boy Sad, you're to blame

You've been sneakin', doin' me dirt
Now they call me Little Boy Hurt
Someday, baby, you're gonna find
Nobody in the world's gonna give you lovin' as sweet as mine

Wanda Jackson - I Gotta Know

This was the first hit for the Queen of Rockabilly, in 1956.
Wanda Jackson is still alive and rockin, having performed on August 2007 on Elvis and more, the 30th Memorial Concert dedicated to Elvis Presley, whom she dated. Elvis strongly encouraged her to abandon the gospel/country style and move towards rock n' roll.

Well I thought that you were a wantin' romance
But all you ever do is dance dance dance
So I boppity bop the whole night long to the knocked out music of a jukebox song
One thing I gotta know I gotta know I gotta know
If our love's the real thing where's my weddin' ring

Yes we rocked and rolled till the broad daylight
You're a little too pooped to kiss your baby goodnight
I know you've had it when the rockin' is through
So I let you go home what else could I do
One thing I gotta know ...

Well I thought that you were a wantin' romance...

When you're on that floor you're cool man cool
But when it comes to lovin' you need to go to school
You know I'm longin' for a weddin' day but all you ever do is play boy play
One thing I gotta know ...
